Hello old friend!!! I see you've jumped into new hardware.
After fighting numerous medical ailments that have seen me ending up on disability, I too am finally finishing a project I started years ago (although the main components have all been sold). Believe it or not, I'm still running on the Abit NF7-S v2, AMD XP 3200+, 1.5GBs of Kingston HyperX RAM, ATI 9800 Pro (my X850 XT PE died 2 months ago, thank goodness I had my old faithful still tucked away in a bin), High Point controller card with 4 hard drives running off of it, TV Tuner card, and 2 DVD lightscribe burners setup!
You've picked some great hardware to work with! I'm not sold on SSDs yet... don't see one of those lasting after 6 years of hard use like my primary WD has (not to mention the sheer cost per GB). I'll be happy with my 2 WD raptors (latest gen) in RAID 0, a WD Black 2TB for media, etc, and a WD Green AV 3TB for backups.
I too have the 1090T BE @ the moment sitting on a brand new GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 AM3+ AMD 990FX mobo with 4-2GB sticks of Crucial Ballistic tracers (DDR3 1600)... maybe before RAM heads north again, I'll pick up 16GBs like you... but my Soc Sec Disability entitlement doesn't lend itself to major hardware purchases all at once! I sold my Gigabyte GA-890FX-A UD5 and 1050T still in their boxes for 30c on the dollar just so I could be "bulldozer" ready! I also traded up from an ATI HD 5770 to an AMD HD 6790... I'm not a serious gamer... my system is purpose built as a multi-media workstation (the dual digital tuner with 3 daughter boards and my ever changing sound card useprove that) that I'm hoping to step up to twin 27" monitors. The water cooling setup is my biggest hold up right now, I am having fitment issues with my drive bay items in the top 3 bays running into the radiator's plumbing hookups (OK, so I'm using an original Cooler Master Stacker with all 12 of it's 5.25" drive bays... and all but the very bottom one will be populated with something, including custom made power and IO panels along with the sweet LCD bay unit). I'm having to purchase a different IO bay panel and media card readers which I will mod in my power and reset lighted bulgin switches and possibly a pair of USB 3.0 connectors.
Let me know if you would like my facebook profile, I have a work log started there, but even that has many changes I have not uploaded yet.
